Managing Director

A proud Yorkshireman who grew up on the family farm, Tim co-owned a notable energy consultancy which was sold to the NFU in 2017, then founded Now Then Energy in 2021.

During 30+ years’ in energy consultancy, Tim worked extensively with commercial greenhouses; as a well-known industry figure put it, there isn’t a greenhouse of scale in the UK that Tim doesn’t know.

And it’s not all about greenhouses, it’s just that they tend to be at the forefront of energy technology, so what Tim’s learnt working with greenhouses can be and is frequently applied to all kinds of environments.

With vast experience in the business case for and practicalities of energy technologies, Tim often consults from the outset of a project, then his expertise in compliance and extracting the most value from assets makes him invaluable on an ongoing basis.

Director and consultant

Ben’s been working in energy consultancy since 2016, with 15 years in banking, tech and media production before that. He was Head of Service Delivery at NFU Energy, running their account management team and overseeing large-scale energy trading and associated services, before joining Tim at Now Then in 2022.

Since joining Now Then, Ben’s been involved in everything we do. His long-term client portfolio includes greenhouses, AD plants, solar and wind generators and big energy users. His breadth of experience and enthusiasm for navigating challenges has brought him project work including the negotiation of private power purchase agreements, demand side response, new solar and CHP projects, a virtual gas pipeline and more.

If Ben doesn’t know the answer, he probably knows someone who does.

Senior consultant

Andrew has over 20 years’ experience specialising in energy management for greenhouses. Having been a trusted consultant to many well-regarded businesses in the sector, his reputation goes before him.

Andrew’s vast experience covers energy procurement and sales, the economics of greenhouse energy systems (especially CHP), and he’s an expert on energy taxation and compliance schemes such as Climate Change Levy and CHPQA.

With a keen eye for detail, fastidious process management and a talent for clear, precise communication, Andrew couldn’t have been a more perfect addition to the Now Then team.
